Dating from 1472, the Great Zittau Lenten Veil measuring an incredible 6.8 x 8,2 metres is unmatched anywhere in Germany. In 90 scenes, it shows biblical events as recorded in the Old and New Testaments.
Visitors are stunned by the Lesser Zittau Lenten veil, which dates from 1573 and is the only surviving example of veil showing the arms of Christ’s suffering. This splendidly unique work of tapestry art is housed in the former Franciscan Abbey founded around 1260.
